All of our senses are sensory modules in the brain, but they are also sensory modules that act like our eyes. That is why we can see that a particular spot is in the sky when we hear it, and it’s the same with taste and smell and touch.

Just like our eyes, our vestibulo-ocular reflex is built into the brain. It’s a reflex that we use to orient ourselves in space. But the vestibulo-ocular reflex is even more powerful than that. It works so well that it allows us to see something that is entirely out of our range of vision. And that’s the point of the vestibulo-ocular reflex.
